Immigration 1923.
This is an homage to my maternal grandmother who was sold in China and brought here to San Francisco by my maternal grandfather. I wasn't the happiest story, but my mother and I made it work. We were both artists, I still am and we are telling her story and the story of countless others who were forced to migrate away from their home.
This is a positive statement, a reclamation of feminine empowerment and a rewriting of the stories for the good and for the future generations.
What was happening in the root country, when you family left? This can give you insight into what you celebrate and struggle with now.
Moving from chronic heartache to resilience is a very real possibility. I know it.
Gratitude
