Elevation, Community of Women
Awakening the Feminine series: Elevation - This painting and the entire series is intuitively inspired by community, the gathering women’s movements, our collective female ancestors and women rising. I began painting this series in earnest during the inception of the Women’s March 2017 and I now find myself driven by the consciousness that has bubbled up and exploded worldwide.
I use color, shape, expression and symbols to instill emotions of strength and resolve. As a woman of color working in the community, using art to effect change, I am always struck by the need to uplift and ignite both the collective imagination of possibilities and indignation of colonized thinking.
